Description
Why Markham
We’re a full-service creative event and production agency working with Fortune 500 companies, associations, and nonprofits around the world.
We move fast. We think big. We care deeply about the work—and we build teams of people who want to do the same.
We’re looking for a Manager, Events in the DMV area who knows how to make that happen—someone who can lead, build, problem-solve, and deliver at a high level without losing the magic.
What you’ll step into:
You’ll own the full lifecycle of events—from early concept to final cue.
Leading multiple high-impact events (yes, at the same time)
Owning budgets, vendors, timelines, and all the moving pieces
Driving production—AV, run of show, staging, talent, all of it
Acting as a trusted partner to clients and stakeholders
Mentoring associates and elevating the team around you
Being the person everyone looks to when it’s go-time onsite
This is a role for someone who doesn’t just execute—but elevates everything they touch.
Comprehensive benefits package included (medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and more)
Markham is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. If you believe you can handle the role and are enthusiastic about this opportunity but are uncertain whether you fulfill all the requirements, don't hesitate to submit your application. We look forward to hearing from you!
Requirements
What you bring:
5+ years of experience in event management—you’ve been in the trenches
Strong experience managing budgets and keeping projects on track
A foundation in events—whether through internships, early roles, or hands-on experience
Highly organized with strong attention to detail (you don’t miss things)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable with tools like Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Canva, and event platforms
A genuine passion for events and a proactive, roll-up-your-sleeves mindset
Bachelor’s degree is a plus but not required. Relevant experience and the ability to execute at a high level matter most
A few realities:
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as events require
Ability to support non-traditional schedules and occasional overtime tied to event execution and leadership needs
The reality (because we keep it real):
DMV-based (this one’s local)
In office 4 days a week—we’re big on collaboration
Travel happens (sometimes a lot)
Nights and weekends are part of the job
You’ll be on your feet, in the action, and making it happen live
